"The problem with the rat race is that even if you win, you are still a rat"
Lily Tomalin
How true?, you work and then you work harder hoping that by doing all this, satisfaction will come, unfortunately satisfaction seems elusive. The world has seen many loose direction and hope when all their life is focussed on work without understanding the real purpose of work.
If we look at work from a Biblical point of view , work can be considered a curse as per the Book of Genesis. At the same time , even though work was put down by GOD as a curse, for our disobedience , it still requires His blessing and understanding to execute work in a manner that builds and not destroys us.
All we do , should be to glorify His name , and so should our work . Our actions , our words , our thoughts in the workplace should be in honour of our GOD who gave us work. There may be corruption, dishonesty , and politics within the organization , yet we who understand the purpose of work, should be ready to stand apart and be ready to give 100%+ to glorify GOD who gave us the job at first.
Take Jesus as as your model of being a worker. He came to serve and not to be served. This means we work with confidence and humility, with passion and strength, with clarity and determination, with giving and restoring people, with the heart of servant hood, uplifting others on the way. Work becomes a process of building yourself , building others and act of obedience to GOD's word.
So if your work is in honour of GOD then you will realize that your family will always be first. Learn to serve your family first , spend time with them . They are a gift from GOD , manage your time so you can honour your work and serve your family in time of need.
When we have the right priories in place , work becomes a joy , work does not become a curse that pushes us to do more and more, eventually making us a slave to work . We would call that overwork. We need not end our lives being rats, we need to end our lives called "Child of GOD", so let us do our work in such a manner that we work towards GOD and not men. GOD Bless you.
