PERSEVERE IN FAITH

We love to do things that make us feel better about God , it also gives us the fragile confidence that we are covering God’s absence with our deeds. Church programs, ministry expansions, extravagant Christmas events, mission trips , Bible studies, kindness to the poor, widow and orphans and the list goes on around all the things we can do or we are inclined to do because of the pressures of society or the mere want to feel good or genuine cry of our hearts. All the above are needed and important but demands the question “Is this what God is expecting from us?”.

When the Old Testament stated the just will live by his faith (Habakkuk 2:4), it was difficult to understand as people were asked to follow the law and obedience to the law seemed to be the only way to salvation. Paul in Romans and Galatians provided us more clarity that it is not good deeds but your faith in Jesus Christ that leads to salvation, this was the very root of the start of the reformation movement. It is in the book of Hebrews that this concept is expanded more by reflecting on the Old Testament and great leaders like Abraham who walked in faith. The writer says to persevere in faith rather than slip away from God.

We may not have the gifts and talents that others have and probably not even the time to do a lot of the good deeds we want to. The beauty of faith is that it is not built in a day , it grows with time, so nobody really knows the power of your faith except God, in other words no one can judge you but God who knows you.Faith is the unseen power that raises in you when no one else is able to help you but God.

In the darkest of days, in sickness , in health, in death and in life , in a moment of the unknown, it is your faith in God that moves you forward. A faith that knows that salvation is through the name and power of Jesus, enabling you to face every obstacle with His power and every victory with His humility.

Forget for a moment all the things you are asked to do by tradition, compulsion or the lack of God in your life , turn it around and do it out of the faith in Him, you have not seen but heard.Persevere in faith to overcome all obstacles so that you know Him more, persevere in faith to grow beyond the boundaries of good deeds for Him, persevere in faith to know the mysteries of His Word, persevere in faith to do His will and wait on Him, persevere in faith to be ready see Him face to face, for faith is nothing but being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

PERSEVERE IN FAITH.

God bless
