The cry of a helpless child, the pain of a widow, the uncertainties of a teenager, the desperation of a man, the fear of a woman, why should I be bothered about all this if it has nothing to do with me, why spend my time and energy caring about anybody or anything that does not benefit me.
This is how our world approaches many of the issues around us, "Is it Me?" we ask , why is there no one else out there to manage these issues?, I don't have the power or position to change the world ,so let it be, why should I even worry? .
The world needs help, people need comfort and care, orphans and widows need a place of security and rest , refugees need a home, sick need a healing touch and then there are us who have been blessed with "more" so that we may give.
"Empathy" is a hard word to put into practice and needs to start within us, a power that opens up the portals of unconditional love and respect for another human being, as I pray for more empathy in my life and I pray the same for you so that we can change the world step by step in the way we treat humans, respect humans and love humans.
Let us keep aside all the excuses that pop in our head and intentionally take that first step of reaching out, make it happen today and then everyday. Compassion can be spoken but can be seen only through our actions.
