Over the last couple of weeks I have been exposed directly and indirectly to stories of death, separation and loss.Parents left to see the death of their child, families separated because of a meaningless political crises, daughters raped and left to live under the eyes of an unkind society, young men powerless as sickness takes over them and the aged left with no one but themselves and their material wealth. I wonder, how does one progress from such situations of loss and hopelessness.It could have been you or me , thus I asked myself would I be ready to move life on in such situations.
There are specks of light in the darkness, the problem is that we tend to see only the darkness and not the light and that is how we are conditioned. The fear , the lose, the pain and the sadness that overwhelm us in a situation are important and healthy emotional triggers that help the body cope with these environments, however we have to focus on the light in the darkness and move life on.
God puts us into smaller disasters to prepare us for the larger ones , it is not that God has disappeared when a problem comes but that He is even more present and waiting for us to acknowledge His presence. We acknowledge His presence by remembering His promises, His mercy , His grace and His hope for us. When we depend on Him in the smaller disasters and move life on, the bigger ones will be easier with Him.
Morning alarms, Rush hour , Traffic , Car breakdowns, Disobedient Teenagers, Deceptive Spouses, Relationship Breakdowns, Personal Disappointments, Bad bosses,Job loss, Unfair treatments , Racial slurs, Sarcastic remarks, Unwelcome egos, Irresponsible siblings, Fraudulent financial schemes, Bribe seeking vultures, Religious fundamentalists etc so on goes the list of disasters and do add your own and ask yourself, how can I know God is with me in all this , how can I keep depending on Him and work with Him to move life on.
I can’t give you a formula but I can tell you there is hope in His name and when you practice seeking Him in the smaller disasters through His power and Word and move life on, the bigger disasters will be faced with a peace beyond human understanding.
Today you can start working with God in your situation and He will help you move life on for He is Life itself.
