When we stand before a generation of worshippers , who are we really standing before , is it the 100s of voices that shout together or is it the eyes of an individual that falls upon you or is it the very presence of the throne of God. To worship our God is an awesome experience but we tend to loose God during the process of worship by focusing on things that take us away from Him.
One of my friends said " I am very humble during worship , I stand in the back and let others do the leading, I am there to help and support" , it was a honest statement , sadly humility was only for the 30 minutes of the worship, the rest of the day it did not really come across. In worship and out of worship God expects us to work for Him and in Him. Our attitude during worship should be our attitude outside worship.
I have struggled with who am I really worshipping in a worship service , is it me , my talents and position, is it the audience and their appreciation, is it the emotion and adrenaline or is it really God, and this has been the experience of many of my friends in the worship leading circles.
The only way we can escape from this battle is to be a worshipper of God in everything we do, intentionally working through prayer to worship only Him in work, play and leading others to Him. It comes with experience, with the battles we face on a daily basis and with the deep desire to stand with humility before His throne.
Every time you stand before people to lead them to worship believe you are standing before His throne and part of the millions that stand before Him in reverence , know deep within that you were created to worship Him and nobody else. Humility grows in you as you lead a life in worship in everything you do for your King. What an honour to stand before His throne.
